Howdy!

The Texas A&M University Women's Club is a vibrant, dynamic part of the Texas A&M community. The Club promotes fellowship among the women of Texas A&M through various interest groups and activities, and conducts service and philanthropic activities in support of the University, its students, and the community. Our members come from across the nation and around the world and we are always eager to meet new people and make new friends. New members may be particularly interested in the Newcomers interest group (see upcoming activities for the Club under "Calendars").

Message from the President

Spring is right around the corner and it is hard to believe that the 2012-2013 Club year is coming to an end. It seems to have gone by way too quickly. We only have two Club events remaining in the year: the March 25th Business Meeting at the Isle of Watercrest at 9:30 am and our Spring Luncheon on April 22nd at Briarcrest Country Club at 11:30 am. Our Nominating Committee of Gloria Woodbury, Ann Busch, Jil Howard and Margie Ragsdale is working hard to present a Slate of Officers at the March 25th meeting. Please contact one of them if you would like to serve our Club either on the Executive Board or on a Standing Committee. Since we are behind the “calendar” so to speak, we will also be voting for this Slate at the March 25th meeting. I hope many of you can join us for this important meeting!

Our programs this year have been wonderful. Thank you to Peggy Vitek and Joyce Nies for arranging such interesting and informative programs. Job Well Done!

The Survey and By-Law Committee continues to work on the Club’s behalf in order to “change with the times.” The Committee will be working over the summer months to ensure that while the rich history of the Club is maintained, some changes will need to be made to continue the vision that was begun over 90 years ago. We will keep you updated as we go along. The members of this Committee are Arlene Wood, Deborah Anderson, Mary Carlson, Margaret Wagner, Jil Howard, Sabine Roeske, and Cassandra Lokke-Seemann. Do not hesitate to give any of these members a call if you have suggestions for our Club.

The scholarships that have been given through the Club have been well deserved by the recipients. All of the students continue to excel with a GPA of 3.4 or above. We will plan to invite those receiving these scholarships to our luncheon on April 22nd in order for you to meet them. They are the future!

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your President this year. As many of you know, I am passionate about the TAMU Women’s Club. This year we welcomed many Newcomers and enjoyed getting together in the Interest Groups with longtime friends. I sincerely hope that you have felt “connected” within the Club and I hope to see many of you at our Luncheon.
